Is Hilla a replacement for an accountant?
No. Hilla does the bookkeeping, but tax rules and filing requirements differ by country and change. Have an accountant check your setup and returns.
Which countries and standards are supported?
17 countries, including the Nordics, major EU markets, the UK, Switzerland, the US, Canada and Australia, plus a custom setup for others. You can edit tax rates at any time.
Where is my data stored?
On your own computer. Hilla works offline, and you can export a backup or CSV files whenever you like.
Is Hilla affiliated with Microsoft?
No. Microsoft Word is a trademark of Microsoft. “Like Word, but for Accounting” describes how familiar Hilla feels, not any partnership or endorsement.
Why is it called Hilla?
Hilla is the Finnish word for cloudberry, a rare Nordic berry prized for its quality. We think accounting should be just as careful and precise.
Can I switch from another accounting program?
You can import journal entries and bank statements as CSV files. Ask us if you need help with another format.
